Governor Visits

Governors are allocated a school faculty, or particular subject, to which they develop a link and connection (their "link").  They have a responsibility to learn about that area of the school, either by visiting, or through other forms of communication. The Governors will look at the school Action Plan and see what their link area is working on, and then consider this during their visits or conversation. Governors complete a visit report following each update, and these are shared with the other Governors. Particular issues will be discussed at the relevant Governor meeting. Visit reports are reproduced here.

VISIT REPORT

Subject/Area: EYFS

Date: Tuesday 6 November 2018

School Link: Anna Owen

Governor Link: Susan Kierans

Purpose of visit: To better understand the challenges of teaching very young children and to observe the classroom activities.

...................................................................................................................................................

I met with Miss Owen, who answered my questions related to the numbers of children in the Nursery and Reception classes. She also provided information on the number of children with special needs.

Miss Owen took me into the classes and introduced me to the Nursery class teacher. It was clear that the children have adapted very well to the structure and routine of their day, indicated on the class timetables.

The Art and Display in the classrooms and the corridors are beautifully laid out and include all levels of learning and ability. The creativity of the staff in planning topics is impressive and clearly cover the areas of learning and development.

I was interested to learn how individual children are assessed. This was a thoroughly enjoyable visit; I would like to return later in the year and spend some time in the classrooms.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Owen for her time.
