RD Awards

Hertfordshire School Sports Awards 2016

Hertfordshire School Sports Awards 2016 1 Top school for sports in Stevenage!

Well done RD, particularly to the PE team (see photo above: Mr Stephenson, Mrs Phillips, Mr Wickens and Miss Parry).

RD was recognised on 1st December 2016 as the best primary school in Stevenage for sports. RD, didn't stop there, we were in 3rd position for schools in Hertfordshire! This is due to the commitment of all, progress with PE lessons, extra curricular sporting opportunities that are on offer, success in sporting fixtures, staff development and more!

Basic Skills Interim Assessment

We were thrilled to pass our interim assessment for the Basic Skills Award this week (Tuesday 29th Nov '16). This assessor spent time with members of the Senior Leadership Team - they discussed many features which enable quality teaching and learning of Maths and English. We impressed the assessor further by completing a learning and environment walk where she could see the school in action! Well done to all the children and staff at RD!

Primary Languages Quality Mark
The national PLQM is a model for excellence and best practice and thus the PLQM at every level (bronze, silver and gold) is extremely rigorous and a hallmark of quality Primary Languages provision.

We have been awarded the Bronze level and therefore Round Diamond has made a great start to KS2 Language teaching and learning.

The quality mark is designed to help primary schools audit, embed and evaluate their foreign language provision through a series of incremental stages that have been developed with the new curriculum for primary languages in mind.  It will guide schools towards best practice and help them meet the new national requirements as set out in the Programme of Study for KS2.

The  Quality Mark is awarded for the work that teachers and pupils engage in as part of the primary languages.

Last year we gathered evidence of our teaching and learning  necessary to address all the different criteria  and submitted it a detailed portfolio for evaluation.
