    Fri 22 Jun 2018

    ⚽️⚽️⚽️
For the summer term we decided to focus our cross-curricular learning days on 'The World Cup'.
Across Thursday and Friday the children took part in a range of activities including football themed maths, writing a match report for the 1966 World Cup final, creating flags, researching countries around the world, finding out about the details of 1966 and much more! The highlight for many children was the mini World Cup event led by the PE team. The overall winners of the tournament were: IRAN!

  • Teaching Schools

    Thu 24 May 2018

    Round Diamond Primary School headteacher

chosen for key school support role

The headteacher and staff at Round Diamond have been selected for top roles supporting schools in challenging circumstances and training new teachers.

Zoë Phillips is one of more than 50 headteachers to be appointed to the role of national leader of education in the latest recruitment round.

National leaders of education along with staff in their school – appointed as national support schools – use their knowledge and experience to provide additional leadership capability in other schools in need of support.

The type of support provided is flexible and tailored to meet the needs of each individual school. National leaders of education also have responsibility for developing the next generation of NLEs and national support schools.

Round Diamond is also one of over 40 schools that has been selected to become a national teaching school in the latest recruitment round, taking a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession.

Introduced in 2011, teaching schools are excellent schools that work with partner schools in an alliance to provide high quality school-led initial teacher training and professional development opportunities for teachers at all stages of their career.

They raise standards through supporting other schools, especially those in challenging circumstances, and ensure that the most talented school leaders are spotted and supported to become successful headteachers.

Zoë Phillips, Head teacher at Round Diamond Primary School said: After the recognition from Ofsted as an ‘Outstanding’ school we are excited to begin this new journey. We will be maintaining high quality provision for our own pupils as well as providing opportunities for advancement for other schools and professionals within the education sector.

Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System, said:

“I’d like to congratulate Round Diamond Primary School and Zoë Phillips on being appointed as a teaching school and a national leader of education. They should be very proud of this achievement.

“Teaching schools and national leaders of education are supporting other schools, attracting and training the best new teachers and developing the next generation of leaders.”

    🕷🐷Cross curricular days - The Farm! 🐷🕷
A fantastic production of Charlotte's Web was enjoyed by children from Reception to Year 6! All the children had a great time joining in and singing along with the actors.
The children have then had the opportunity back in class to write their own versions of the story focusing speech.

  • Round Diamond's Very First House Afternoon

    Tue 07 Feb 2017

This afternoon, the children enjoyed a range of activities based on the '50 things to do before you are 11 and 3/4' challenge. The children moved around in mixed age groups and took part in activities including : rolling down a hill, dancing like no-one is watching, learning kick boxing with a world champion,  animal encounters and kite flying. At the end of the afternoon, organised by the P.E, P.S.H.E AND R.E faculty, the children came together to  share some of their experiences. Romano said that it was his 'best day ever' and gave it a score of 1 million out of 10,  whilst Ollie reported that he 'really enjoyed making bird feeders' and told us that he 'couldn't wait to see which birds would come in to his garden to feed from it'.

We are very thankful to all of the visitors for coming along and sharing their skills, to the staff for their support and hard work and,  as always, to the children for their exceptional behaviour and demonstrations of the Round Diamond Values.

Well done everyone.  Keep going with the project and do let us know if you complete any more of the activities at home.

We have had 2 4 5 0 4 9 visitors
