Visions and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our Round Diamond School Values are:

Responsible, Determined, Successful

These reflect the qualities we strive to instil in our pupils.

We encourage the children to think about and embody these values throughout their time at Round Diamond. These values form the basis of our school ethos and are regularly discussed with children.

We use our positive behaviour system to reward children who demonstrate these values.

British Values

All schools are required to promote the British Values as set out by the government. Round Diamond School reinforces these values in a variety of ways. The values are set out below and explained further.

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs

Mental Health and Wellbeing at Round Diamond

As a school, wellbeing and mental health in our pupils and staff are a high priority; Round Diamond is committed to supporting the resilience, emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.

We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, some may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is of central importance and intrinsic to our lives. At Round Diamond, we work collaboratively to ensure staff and pupils feel supported, heard, accepted, valued and empowered.

At Round Diamond we:

  • Help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
  • Help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
  • Promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count
  • Help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks

We do this through:

  • Our comprehensive RSHE curriculum and our life skills class assemblies
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and supportive environment in school
  • Promoting and teaching about our PRIDE values in class and in assemblies – we promote the idea of working together through challenges.
  • Celebrating a variety of class and pupil achievements in class and as a school

We also offer additional support to those children who may benefit from it.

Common life events which may affect a child’s wellbeing:

  • Loss or bereavement
  • Loneliness
  • Friendship problems
  • Issues at school
  • Worries

We all have times when we struggle with our mental wellbeing, where we feel stressed, upset or find it difficult to cope.

If you or your child are struggling with your mental health, please come and speak to us as we can signpost you to the best support for you and/or your child.
